This privacy policy explains how Placecrafts ("we", "our") handles personal data when you visit our website at placecrafts.com, place an order, or interact with us through Pinterest, email, or other channels.
Who we are
Placecrafts is a print-on-demand wall art brand selling posters of European places. We are based in Sweden. The data controller for the purposes of the GDPR is Placecrafts (contact: support@placecrafts.com).
What data we collect
We collect only what we need to operate the shop and improve our content. Specifically:
- Order data — name, email, shipping address, payment confirmation. Collected and stored by Shopify when you place an order. Shopify is our payment and order processor.
- Fulfillment data — name, shipping address, and the artwork you ordered. Shared with Gelato, our print-on-demand fulfillment partner, who prints and ships your order from a hub in or near your country.
- Support correspondence — when you email us, your message and email address are stored by Postmark (our email service) and processed by us to respond.
- Analytics — aggregated, anonymised page-view data via Google Search Console (which sees what people search before clicking through to us) and basic server logs via Cloudflare. We do not run third-party tracking pixels.
- Newsletter — if you sign up for our newsletter, we store your email until you unsubscribe.
What we don't do
- We do not sell your data.
- We do not run advertising trackers or third-party retargeting scripts.
- We do not collect data from children.
Cookies
Our content pages use no first-party cookies. The Shopify-hosted checkout and the Pinterest pin "Save" button set their own cookies governed by Shopify's and Pinterest's policies respectively. You can block third-party cookies in your browser without affecting your ability to browse our site.
We post product images and links to our pages on Pinterest as a way for new customers to discover our work. When you interact with a Placecrafts pin (save, click, hover), Pinterest collects data about that interaction under Pinterest's privacy policy. We do not receive your Pinterest profile data — only aggregated pin metrics (impressions, saves, clicks) for our own pins.
Your rights under GDPR
If you are in the EU/EEA, you have the right to:
- Access any personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Delete your data ("right to be forgotten")
- Port your data to another service
- Object to processing based on legitimate interests
- Withdraw consent for newsletter or other consent-based processing at any time
To exercise any of these rights, email support@placecrafts.com. We respond within 30 days. You can also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Data retention
Order records are kept for 7 years to comply with EU accounting law. Support emails are kept for 24 months. Newsletter emails are kept until you unsubscribe. Aggregated analytics are kept indefinitely but contain no personal identifiers.
Third-party processors
We rely on the following processors, all GDPR-compliant:
- Shopify — payments, checkout, order management (policy)
- Gelato — print-on-demand fulfillment (policy)
- Cloudflare — content delivery, server logs, DDoS protection (policy)
- Postmark — transactional and support email (policy)
- Pinterest — promotional pins linking to our site (policy)
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our practices change. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be announced on our home page.
